The search for hope

A budding flower

Most of us want to be happy, to feel secure, to know our lives matter. We want to make a difference with the time we have. We want to achieve something purposeful and good, even as we sometimes experience life as a constant grind of things to do, obligations to meet, and pressures to work around. Most of us are looking for some kind of hope in the midst of it all.

Christians throughout the centuries have found their hopes fulfilled in Jesus.

“I am the way.”

Life feels like a complex journey, and we often have to choose a path. Some paths promise a lot: security if we earn more; fulfilment if we can ‘find ourselves’; inner peace if we can try a little bit harder. But often these paths don’t deliver. We still worry. We still feel empty inside. We still mess up, no matter how hard we try.

Jesus offers us another path. A better way. A way that can lead you to security, hope, and fulfilment in God, who made you and loves you.

“I am the way,” Jesus says.

“I am the truth.”

But those choices still bombard us. We’re surrounded by choices, stories, facts, news, and opinions. We don’t even know what’s real, and what’s artificially generated. We’re often unsure which way to go, and we don’t know what to trust.

Wouldn’t it be good if there was something true to base your life on? For centuries, Christians have believed that Jesus is God – the ultimate truth behind everything.

“I am the truth,” Jesus says.

“I am the life.”

At the heart of our search is the desire for meaning. We want our lives to have purpose. Even in difficult times, we want to know that there is hope: something solid that goes beyond our circumstances; something we can trust in, and build our lives on.

Jesus offers us that hope. He promises life that’s filled with purpose, healing, and the security of being known and loved.

“I am the life,” he says.
