What we Believe

As a church community, we hold to the historic, orthodox Christian faith expressed in Scripture and affirmed throughout the Church's life. These beliefs shape who we are, how we worship, and how we live.

God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
We believe in one true God who lives eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is love, and all creation exists through his goodness and for his purposes.

The Bible
We believe in the divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Bible, which is the written word of God. Through Scripture, God speaks truth, reveals his character, and guides his people.

Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus is God incarnate: born of the virgin Mary; fully divine and fully human, yet without sin. In him we see God's holiness, righteousness, grace, mercy, and compassion.

The Cross
We believe in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross: dying in our place; paying the price of sin, and defeating evil; and reconciling us with God. Salvation is a gift of God's grace, not something we can earn. We can only be saved through faith in Christ.

The Resurrection and Ascension
We believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ, and his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world. He intercedes for us and will complete God's purposes for all creation.

The Holy Spirit
We believe in God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers us to live as disciples and witnesses, and works miraculously in the world today.

The Church
We believe that the universal Church is the body of which Christ is the head, made up of all who have faith in him. Local churches make this body visible through worship, love, care, and encouragement.

Humanity
We believe that all people, male and female, are made in God's image, and are created to love, to be holy, and to care for creation. We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, that all stand under God's judgment, and that all need salvation through Christ.

Sacraments
We believe baptism and holy communion are visible signs of God's invisible grace. Baptism marks our union with Christ and his Church, and communion is a memorial of our redemption and a celebration of Christ's sacrifice.

The Future
We believe that Jesus Christ will return in personal and visible glory to judge the living and the dead, to bring eternal life to the redeemed and destruction to the lost, and to establish a new heaven and a new earth.
