Joshua: man of God

Joshua page pic
Our current sermon series is on the book of Joshua, and will run until 15th March 2026.

Joshua led God's people into the promised land - bringing to an end the long period of wandering in the wilderness that they'd experienced after God freed them from slavery in Egypt. Joshua's story is one of faith and hope, but also one with difficult elements: as they entered the land, they were met with resistance from people already living there. There were victories and defeats, and the story is at times hard to read.

1. Joshua: Strong and Courageous
11 January
Speaker: Dom Turner
The Israelites are facing a season of change. Their leader, Moses, is dead; and their new leader has been tasked by God to finally take them into the promised land. This sermon explores the themes of promise, precept, and presence, as well as touching on some of the difficulties of reading a text like Joshua in our modern world.
2. Joshua: Crossing the Jordan
18 January
Speaker: Dom Turner
As the Israelites finally prepare to enter the promised land, they have to learn to trust Joshua and, more importantly, to trust God. This sermon explores themes of leadership and obedience, and asks if we're prepared to follow the Lord as he leads us today.
3. Joshua: Remembering what God has done
25 January
Speaker: Dom Turner
The people have finally arrived, after a long journey from their roots in slavery in Egypt, through their wanderings in the wilderness, and then across the River Jordan. The first thing God asks them to do once they're in the land is to create a pile of stones: why? And what does this mean for us today?
